ABOUT THE ARCHITECT

Hok Sport

The architect for the new ballpark is HOK Sport, recognized nationally as the leading firm in the design of modern ballparks and stadiums.

Its mission – to design the best facilities for the best clients – will be evident in Miami. The firm has won more than 150 design awards and is a three-time winner of the industry's most prestigious award for its work at Baltimore's Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Cleveland's Progressive Field and Hong Kong Stadium.

The firm's roots reach to the 1970s and 1980s when a group of architects began to recognize a strong market for the creative and unique design of sports facilities. In 1983, under the umbrella of St. Louis-based HOK, the country's largest architecture firm, five architects founded the first practice dedicated exclusively to the design of sports facilities.

Today, HOK Sport has a staff of more than 500 in offices in Kansas City, Nashville, Knoxville, Denver, London, Brisbane and Beijing. The firm has had a role in more than 825 projects worth $20 billion.

The firm's relevant project experience includes Minute Maid Park, a roofed ballpark that houses the Houston Astros. Other baseball parks designed by HOK Sports include:

  • New Yankee Stadium, New York, NY
  • New Busch Stadium, St. Louis, MO
  • Angel Stadium of Anaheim, CA
  • Nationals Park, Washington, D.C.
  • Coors Field, Denver, CO
