Employee of the Month: Angie Diaz, Miami office
What would you be doing if you weren’t at your current job?
I would either go back to school to study accounting or work for a Hispanic television network contributing content to its afternoon talk shows or seasonal awards shows.
Hands down, “The Notebook.” What can I say? I am a hopeless romantic, and then there is Ryan Gosling …
What superpower do you wish you had?
Being invisible with the power to turn back time! The cool thing about being invisible would be the ability to eavesdrop on people’s conversations. Turning back time would allow me to take back any negative actions resulting from spur-of-the-moment decisions. I am not one to live with regrets, but there is no greater feeling than making things right when you leave all pride aside and admit you were wrong.
The best piece of advice ever received
My grandmother used to say, “Always remember where you come from,” which in my case is a low-income family in a small Colombian town. I was the first in my family to attend and graduate from college. My accomplishments would not have been possible without my family’s support and my perseverance. I am lucky to live the life I live and value my accomplishments that much more. This feels good as the girl from the small town who has come a long way. It’s all thanks to my grandmother’s values and the lessons she taught me.
My most memorable client experience
In 2010, I was representing Universal Orlando Resort and had the opportunity to work on the inauguration of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I was responsible for securing Latin American and U.S. Hispanic media to attend the grand opening, including media from Brazil. It was challenging as I don’t speak Portuguese, but at the end, all of our secured media attended. The highlight of this project was that I was able to experience the park before it was open to the public and to meet several members of the Harry Potter cast. It was an unforgettable and once-in-a-lifetime experience.
